History of Islam in Liechtenstein

The Principality of Liechtenstein has an area of 160 sq km and its map is presented in Figure 4.5.6. Muslims started immigrating here in the 1960s. As shown in Table 4.5.6, based on census data, the Muslim population increased from none before 1960 to eight or 0.04% in 1970, to 421 or 1.7% in 1980, to 689 or 2.4% in 1990, to 1,593 or 5.0% in 2000, to 1,960 or 5.6% in 2010, to 2,215 or 6.1% in 2015 and 2,356 or 6.3% in 2020.

Thus, assuming that the percentage of Muslims will continue to increase by half of a percentage point per decade; then the Muslim population is expected to increase to 3,000 or 8% in 2050 and 4,000 or 10.5% by 2100.
