History of Islam in Tokelau
Is a self-administrating territory of New Zealand with total area 12 sq km consisting of three atolls: Nukunonu (6 sq km), Atafu and Fakaofo (3 sq km each). Each atoll has about a third of the total population. A map of these atolls is presented in Figure 6.4.6. Its name was changed in 1946 from Union Islands to Tokelau Islands, then in 1976 to Tokelau. As shown in Table 6.4.6, the 2011 census and before show no presence of Muslims in these atolls, and the situation is expected to remain the same throughout this century.
